If you are anything like me then it is very likely that you will also find the quest for silky, luscious locks ever so stressful. Whilst I would probably count myself as one of the lucky ones out there that has, “good hair,” knowing how to keep it under control and looking its best if a whole different story! And, the continuous adverts that see the likes of Cheryl and Jennifer Aniston tossing their hair with gusto and pride only add to the frustration. Tangle Teeze and smoothing serum in hand they can easily have us crying out: “Am I not worth it then?”

Styling, shaping, smoothing or sculpting? I am never sure what I am doing, or when, or how! Most of the time, when it comes to hair, I find myself utterly clueless and well out of my comfort zone.  So, I tend to stay in said comfort zone: wash, blow-dry, brush, repeat! Hair has never really been my “thing” and all too often I am bamboozled by hair products that come my way in beauty subscription boxes or as birthday or Christmas gifts. I will happily spend hours on my make-up trying to achieve the ‘red carpet look,’ the ‘flawless look,’ the ‘no make-up, make-up look’ but, when it comes to my hair? Three minutes in and if it’s not already perfect I’m in the midst of a full-blown, diva strop. Most likely by now strands are in knots and I’ve snapped my fourth hair-band. “I give up!” I’ll yell. “I’m not going!” I’ll declare. Then, I spend the next twenty minutes pouting before running a brush over my head and surrendering with a frustrated, “That’ll do!” My hair looks nice. My hair looks fine. But, it’s not quite the flowing glowing locks of Kate Middleton.

I’m always on the lookout for that “wonder product” that will give me the shiny tresses of Cheryl and Jen with ease. Please, please no complicated “leave-in,” “three coats,” “do five jumping-jacks and a rain dance to the Gods” instructions – I beg of you! Give me something simple to use that leaves my hair shiny and frizz free.

In all honesty I never thought I was never going to find this kind of miracle in a bottle. I have been lured in many times by the L’oreal adverts, the Aussie blog-posts and the catchy TRESemme jingles but all have ultimately ended unsuccessfully. Whilst I don’t doubt these brands hold the “wonder products” for some people, they don’t for me.

Then, at this year’s Glamour Magazine Beauty Festival in London I was handed a sample bottle of ‘Ogx’ shampoo and conditioner. Ogx (formerly Organix) is a member of the Vogue International Company: it vocally prides itself on quality and forward-thinking. Ogx produces “paraben-free, salon-inspired formulas” tailored to different hair types and hair needs. Everything about the brand is inviting and their representation at the beauty festival was no different.  The smiling face of the Ogx rep won my fellow Festival go-er and I over from the get-go;  she was friendly, inviting and actually took time to find the best sample for my hair and my friend’s hair. Fantastic!

“Thick and dry, or thin and fragile?” she asked! After some discussion she handed me a bottle of, “Nourishing Coconut Milk” shampoo and the matching conditioner. This is one of the many ranges on offer by the brand. My friend meanwhile, who fell into the ‘thin and fragile’ category was promptly a handed a set from their blue Argan Oil range. Sorted! This reminded us how it important it is to make sure you get the right product for your hair type. Many times I haven’t gotten the results I wanted because I didn’t do my research. So, with the necessary guidance, we happily accepted our samples and headed on our way. Back at home, it was love at first wash!

So, what can you expect if you pick up a bottle of the Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo?

The first thing that will strike you about this product is the scent; it’s very strong! However, it is also what I would call, “heavenly.” Luckily, I am a huge fan of coconut and love the smell of this product. For me, it really adds to the ‘natural’ and ‘nourishing’ angle the brand has going for it. It’s sweet and reminiscent of a beach holiday or indulgent spa. However, if coconut is not your thing I would stay clear because once you open the cap there is certainly no escaping it.

The next thing that appealed to me is how this is a no fuss, no frills product. The packaging is simple with a focus being placed on a description of what the product contains and does – no cheesy logos or images of fruit to convince me it’s natural. I like the straight-forward honesty. The texture is thick, creamy and it lathers well. It is also worth noting that a little bit of product goes a long way making it real value for money: It can be found priced anywhere between £4 and £10 depending on offers. The conditioner offers the same quality. It is also smooth in texture and also requires a minimal amount. What I also loved about these products was the fact that they washed out easily and didn’t leave that horrible, greasy residue many others can. After each wash my hair has been left feeling clean, fresh and pampered without any hassle.

I have used this product for a few months now and it shows no sign of depleting in quality of results. My hair loves it and I love it. This is honestly is the closest I have gotten to glossy magazine hair. So, I would urge everyone to give it ago. I have been so impressed I have already re-purchased!

This Products Two Stars & a Wish

*Star* The sweet, coconut scent is bliss and leaves your hair clean and fresh all day.

*Star*  Doesn’t leave a residue, build up or diminish in quality after repeated use.

*Wish* Depending on where this is purchased it can be a little pricey for a high-street store product. Keep an eye out for offers that pop up often in the supermarket.
